Snow bombs that came one step late … accumulate 2cm per hour from 1pm in Seoul

Citizens are urging their steps at the intersection of Jonggak Station in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 18th when it snows. News 1

– Unlike the Meteorological Administration’s forecast that heavy snowfall will occur from the early morning of the 18th and an emergency on the way to work will occur in Seoul, snow has been falling in earnest from the morning after the rush hour. The Meteorological Administration predicted that strong snow would fall temporarily in Seoul this afternoon.

According to the Meteorological Administration, as of 10 am, snow is falling in Seoul, Incheon, and northern Gyeonggi, and there are some places in the southern part of Gyeonggi Province. The Meteorological Administration said, “The snow cloud belt is developing somewhat with the inflow of cold air from the rear, and there is a possibility that 2cm of snow per hour will fall as this snow cloud belt affects Seoul around 1 pm today.” . Accordingly, heavy snow warnings were issued in the metropolitan areas such as Seoul, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gangwon (Yeongseo and Sanji), and inland Gyeongsang.

As of 10 am, the official snowfall in Seoul is 0.2 cm (Jongno-gu observatory). Among the autonomous districts, Nowon-gu records the most snowfall at 0.9 cm.

It seems like it will stop at around 6 PM… Attention on the way home

– Initially, the Meteorological Administration predicted, “It is expected that there will be a lot of snow intensively in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Yeongseo area between dawn and morning.” However, contrary to the forecast by the Meteorological Administration, there was some snow in Seoul the night before, but it did not snow enough to record snowfall from dawn until the rush hour.

In response, the Meteorological Administration said, “As the southwest wind flows into the south of the pneumatic valley, which is located near the Balhae Bay, it is expected that the cloud band will develop due to the cold air in the interior. The lull is getting longer.”

Meteorological Office reporter Yoon Ki-han explained, “Because the southwest flow is weaker than expected, the snow cloud belt fortunately moved out of Seoul at night, and as it passed through the southern part of Gyeonggi Province, Chungcheong and Jeolla Province, a lot of snow fell around the area.”

In fact, a lot of snow fell in the southern part of Gyeonggi Province, including 9.3 cm in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, 6.3 cm in Pyeongtaek and 3.5 cm in Suwon. Gangwon-do Hongcheon (Guryongryeong) 17.9cm, Chungbuk Jecheon 7.4cm, Jeonbuk Gochang 12cm, Gwangju 7.3cm, etc. There is a lot of snow piled up in Gangwon, Chungcheong, and Jeolla-do.

The snow in the metropolitan area and Gangwon Yeongseo will drop until around 6 pm and then gradually stop. The southern region and the Chungcheong area will continue to snow until 3 pm. Estimated snowfall will be 3~8cm in the central region, Jeolla, Gyeongbuk (excluding the eastern coast), Gyeongnam (excluding the eastern coast), and Jeju Island, and many places will fall more than 10cm around the central and southern part of Yeongseo, Gangwon-do. The east coast of Gangwon, the east coast of Gyeongbuk, and Jeju Island (excluding mountain areas) are expected to see 1cm of snow.

After that, as the temperature drops significantly, there is a high possibility that the snow will freeze, causing a traffic disruption on the way home from work. The Meteorological Agency said, “In snowy areas, the visibility is short and there will be a lot of ice roads due to a lot of snow accumulation or freezing, so please pay special attention to pedestrians and traffic safety so as not to damage such as collisions by maintaining a sufficient distance between cars when driving a vehicle. I asked.
