The intelligence officers established that the criminal group included citizens of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, who transported illegal immigrants, weapons and excisable goods through the Kuchurgan estuary. Also, according to preliminary data of the investigation, it is possible that certain persons of the “Ministry of State Security” of the so-called “Pridnestrovskaia Moldavskaia Respublika” were involved in the organization of the illegal channel.
SBU officers detained two malefactors, citizens of Ukraine and Moldova, on the hot line during an attempt to transport a consignment of excisable goods and explosive devices to Ukraine.
In particular, it was found and seized:
- more than 5 thousand packs of cigarettes;
- 5 RGD grenades with fuses, a hand-held cumulative grenade RKG-3 and an F-1 grenade with a fuse;
- 10 ammunition for AGS-17;
- almost 1200 rounds of 5.45 caliber.
It is noted that on the eve of the SBU counterintelligence officers documented the illegal transfer of a group of illegal immigrants through this channel across the state border of Ukraine.
Investigators of the security agencies have begun criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 201 and part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Now the detainees have been informed of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 332 (illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, their actions are qualified as committed as part of an organized group.
Investigative actions are continuing to establish all the circumstances of the illegal activity and the persons involved in it.
