Smooth highway traffic… Seoul → Busan 4 hours 30 minutes

According to the Korea Expressway Corporation, as of 9 o’clock tonight, on major highways such as the Gyeongbu Expressway, the West Coast Expressway, the Jungbu Expressway, the Seoul Yangyang Expressway, and the Namhaean Expressway, cars are speeding up without congestion in both directions.

The time it takes from Seoul toll booths to major cities nationwide at 9 p.m. is expected to be 4 hours and 30 minutes in Busan, 3 hours and 20 minutes in Gwangju, 3 hours and 30 minutes in Daegu, and 2 hours and 40 minutes in Gangneung.

On the day of New Year’s Day, tomorrow, homecoming and returning vehicles are mixed, and the largest congestion is expected during this holiday, the Korea Highway Corporation said.

The Korea Expressway Corporation predicted that tomorrow, the nation’s traffic volume will increase to 4.29 million units, which is greater than the previous day’s 3.78 million units.

It is expected that 390,000 units will move from the metropolitan area to the local area and 380,000 units from the local area to the metropolitan area.

The congestion in the direction of homecoming begins around 7-8 a.m., peaks around 12 to 1 p.m., and is expected to resolve around 7 to 8 p.m.

Congestion in the direction of Gwigyeong begins around 9-10 a.m., gets the most severe around 1-2 p.m., and will be resolved around 10-11 p.m.
