Smallpox alert from monkey to the East (representation) –

The regional delegation of Public Health of the East Cameroon region launched a health watch in all the districts of the sector in the area, following a case of death from the consequences of smallpox monkey, also called “monkey pox “, Which occurred in the locality of Ayos located a hundred kilometers from the capital, Yaoundé. Without indicating whether other cases had been notified, the said service alerts the various health facilities, as well as community health workers, as to the danger of the “monkey pox” virus to which children are most vulnerable, and which is transmitted to humans by animals via direct or indirect contact, manifesting itself in fever, a generalized pustular rash as well as breathing difficulties.

The last monkey pox alert in Cameroon dates back to May 2018 in the English-speaking regions of the North-West and South-West where the epidemiological surveillance system had recorded, a few weeks earlier, cases of human contamination with this reputed viral disease very contagious.
