A small plane crash occurred in Colombia middle. A pilot and 5 passengers who were Colombian politicians died in the incident.
Reported by AFP, Thursday (20/7/2023), the five politicians are members of the right-wing Centro Democratico party of former president Alvaro Uribe.
They were on the plane that crashed in the area of the city of San Luis de Gaceno in the Boyaca department. This was disclosed by the civil aviation authority. The cause of this plane crash is under investigation.
The Centro Democratico party on Twitter regretted the accident which claimed the lives of members including former senator Nohora Tovar, departmental MP Dimas Barrero, governor candidate Eliodoro Alvarez and Villavicencio city council member Oscar Rodriguez.
According to local media, the plane was flying from Villavicencio to Bogota for a party meeting.
Meanwhile left-wing President Gustavo Petro offered his condolences on his Twitter account.
