NEW YORK – Slovak hockey player Juraj Slafkovský recorded one assist in the New Year’s Eve program of the overseas NHL, but his Montreal team lost 3:4 on the ice of Tampa Bay.

His compatriot Erik Černák did not finish the duel in the home jersey after a hard hit by Josh Anderson at the beginning of the second period. Calgary, in the lineup with Adam Ružiček and Martin Pospíšil, defeated Philadelphia 4:3. Minnesota’s Marc-Andre Fleury became the fourth goaltender to reach the 1,000-game mark in a pro league. Nikita Kučerov from Tampa was the first to reach 60 points in the season.

Montreal lost a two-goal lead in the meeting with Tampa, conceding four times in a row. In the 58th minute, Nick Suzuki gave hope to the visitors, who after Slafkovský’s run in front of the goal got to the puck and reduced the score to 3:4 from an angle, but the Canadiens were unable to equalize. Slafkovský scored his thirteenth point of the season (4+9), played 20:42 minutes and had one shot.

“I think in the first two periods we had better shots. We were in their attacking zone and created a lot. We had good chances, but their goalkeeper made great saves and kept them in the game. They are a team that will return to the match unless you convert your chances,” David Savard told the official website of the NHL.

Černak was shocked behind his own goal

Černak spent only 6:39 minutes on the ice with a minus point, as in the 25th minute he was left behind his own goal after being hit by Anderson. After reviewing the video, the referees gave him a two-minute penalty and five minutes for the subsequent fight with Luke Glendening, who immediately went to “revenge” Černák. The club did not specify the health condition of Černák immediately after the match.

The star of Tampa was Nikita Kučerov with a goal and an assist, who was the first in the season to reach the 60-point mark. “I’ve seen this kid become one of the best players in the world. It doesn’t matter if he’s MVP in the league, he’s MVP for our team.” said home coach Jon Cooper to the Russian forward. Captain Steven Stamkos had one assist in his 1,038th game for the Lightning, surpassing Vincent Lecavalier’s club record.

Montreal scored a curious goal across the entire ice rink to make it 2:0 – after an intervention by the visiting goalkeeper Sam Montembeault, the Tampa players expected the game to be interrupted, the music was already playing in the hall, but the whistle from the referees did not come and Jonathan Kovacevic, after a quick play, scored exactly from his own third into the opponent’s abandoned goal , from which Jonas Johansson skated for a while.

“There was noise so I wasn’t sure if the referee was blowing the whistle. I didn’t see a reason for it so I tried it and we surprised them.” Kovacevic described his goal.

Slovaks did not score in the Calgary jersey

Calgary decided on the triumph over Philadelphia with three goals in the third period, Dennis Gilbert and Blake Coleman each scored two points for a goal and an assist. Andrew Mangiapane had three assists. The Slovaks did not score in the home team, Pospíšil played 9:16 minutes and had one two-minute penalty, Ružička ended the duel with 8:12 minutes and one shot on goal.

“We wanted to end the year on a high note and we succeeded. We are on the right track,” said forward “flames” Jonathan Huberdeau, who recorded one assist.

Mason Marchment shone with a hat trick and an assist in the Dallas jersey, which outclassed Chicago 8:1 on its ice. Tyler Seguin added three points (1+2). “Great finish. That’s not how I envisioned it, but sometimes you get lucky. I set up Es Lindell’s stick, hit it right and then it bounced off someone’s leg.” described Marchment closing the hat trick with a goal to make it 8-1 that came with 62 seconds left.

Warren Foegele experienced a five-point night for the first time in his career, and with two accurate hits and three assists, he significantly contributed to Edmonton’s 7:2 victory in the Anaheim arena. German forward Leon Draisaitl scored a goal and provided two assists, and the “Oilers” won the fifth duel in the series, all on the opponents’ ice. “We have patience with our game and we’re not reckless. There was a time when we were down and we stuck it out. If we can keep believing in each other and stay calm, good things should happen for us.” Foegele said of his team’s form.

Marc-Andre Fleury is the fourth goaltender in history to have caught at least 1,000 games in the regular season of the NHL. However, his jubilee night was spoiled by the players of Winnipeg, who succeeded 3:2 on the ice of his Minnesota. They scored in the eighth match in a row. Martin Brodeur (1,266), Roberto Luongo (1,044) and Patrick Roy (1,029) also have at least a thousand games in the NHL among goalkeepers.

“I would have liked a win, it’s disappointing. The boys played great today and fought hard, it was better than yesterday in Winnipeg. Of course, I’m also happy for the reception from the spectators and my teammates. It means a lot to me to be able to play for so long and doing what I love for many years. I’m lucky,” evaluated his milestone and Fleury’s match.

The players of San Jose lost the eighth duel in a row, when they lost 1:3 on the ice of Colorado. Nathan MacKinnon had two assists for the home team and extended his streak of games with at least one point in home games since the beginning of the season to 19.

“They always gave us a hard time this year. Even in the game we won 6-2, it was difficult to get our offense going. You have no choice, if you want to win, you have to hang on. The players know that.” home coach Jared Bednar evaluated the duel. His team won all six of their head-to-head games last calendar year and did not allow San Jose to score in four of them.
