Slippery Morning Traffic: Eastern Norway Braces for Challenging Conditions

The Swedish Road Administration asks everyone who is going to drive in Eastern Norway to drive carefully. The cold means that it can become slippery on smaller roads.

It is around minus 20 degrees in Oslo on Friday morning and even colder in the areas around the capital. Then salt and sand don’t bite into the line, so it can become slippery.

– It can be exciting to see how it will be in the morning traffic. Most of the roads that are paved will probably stay that way. But it can be polished and smooth on the small roads, says traffic operator Audun Wahlstrøm to NTB.

The Swedish Road Administration and their contractors have been working through the night to make the roads ready for the blasting cold.

– On the main roads towards Oslo we expect almost normal morning traffic, says Wahlstrøm.

– But we ask people to drive according to the conditions, slow down and keep a good distance.
