The water level in the Rhine near Cologne is currently rising significantly. The level was on Wednesday at 5.68 meters, as the Cologne city drainage company (StEB) announced. However, there are still no adverse effects on shipping. It is just a “small flood wave” that is expected to peak on Friday at 7.20 meters and then subside again. The usual protective measures were routinely taken, such as the construction of a lifting gate in the Rodenkirchen district.

According to the Rhineland-Palatinate flood reporting center, high water mark I was exceeded on the Middle Rhine near Koblenz. Shipping on the Moselle was temporarily suspended; there the levels should reach their highs on Wednesday.
