The police arrested a man and a woman from Poland in Etten-Leur this morning, because they are suspected of having refueled their car 24 times without paying.
According to the police, the 32-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were found in a car that had been parked on a square in Etten-Leur for several days. Registrations in police computers showed that the car had been refueled 24 times without paying for it.
Officers found the two sleeping in the car. “After officers woke them up, they told them in broken English that they were homeless,” the police said. According to him, the man’s passport was deposited as collateral at a garage where his car tire was being repaired. “He became emotional and immediately admitted that he had refueled several times without paying.”
According to research, the woman was present at least once. After consultation with the public prosecutor, it was decided to arrest both persons. They are now stuck, reports Broadcasting Brabant.
The car they were found in was a blue Chevrolet with a Polish license plate. The detectives have started an investigation and will also look at camera images.
