Slavia is going into a key rematch, in which lineup will they start? Everything depends on Ševčík, says Trpišovský

Slavia is preparing for the rematch of the 3rd preliminary round of the Conference League in Greece, defending a two-goal lead at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium. But in what line-up? That’s a bit of a mystery.

In Eden, Eduardo Santos was sent off, creating a hole in the middle of the defense. Tomáš Holeš, who has a lot of experience as a stopper in European matches, entered the match.

On the weekend against Zlín, Taras Kačaraba started in defense, which is the second option. If he were to start, there would be no need to look for a replacement for Holeš in the midfield. But Ševčík is injured and, as Jindřich Trpišovský stated, it kind of depends on him.

“Petr Ševčík did not practice on Tuesday, the injury site is very painful. We’ll see in pre-match training, he’ll decide on Thursday after warm-up, it’s 50:50,” said the coach of Slavia at the press conference.

“It is one point of view that is offered. We handled the first game well defensively. But it was a different surface, a different starting mode of the match and a different atmosphere. One point of view is that something was working for us and it is suggested that we just adjust it typologically. The second thing is that Tomáš Holeš has a lot of experience with it. A lot will be determined by Petr Ševčík’s condition,” answered the coach of Slavia when asked if it would not be better to use Kačaraba and keep the center of the field.

In other words, it can be read from this that if Ševčík is healthy, he will jump into the center of the field and Holeš will slide in at the stopper. If not, Holeš will probably stay in the center of the midfield and Kačarab will go to the stopper.

Striker Yiru Soro is also troubled by his health condition. The speedy Nigerian could be very valuable in an open defence, especially if Panathinaikos have to take some risks.

“Yira went to team training for the first time on Wednesday. The promise is that he will be ready for part of the match. It will be more a question of pain threshold and what he wants to risk. He is not finished, but he wants to play and be ready. It remains to be seen after pre-match training what he will do. The assumption is that he will be ready for part of the match.” introduced Trpišovský to him.

Ondřej Lingr, who did a good job here in the first duel, should jump in at the tip of the attack. The injured Ewerton did not fly to Greece at all, as Martin Cedidla from Zlín sent him to Marodoka. Peter Olayinka will start again on the left wing.
