The Czech Volkswagen subsidiary Skoda will miss the production of 100,000 cars this year due to the worldwide shortage of semiconductors. That says CEO Thomas Schäfer in the German newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine.

The chip shortage hurts Skoda very much, it sounds, especially given the high demand for the brand. The Skoda CEO hopes that the shortage will decrease somewhat in the coming weeks, now that there is more production of chips in Malaysia. He assumes that the chip shortage will continue next year, but to a lesser extent than this year.
