ŠK Slovan Bratislava CEO Reveals Plans to Build Strongest Team for 2023/2024 Season and Beyond

In the Slovak football club ŠK Slovan Bratislava, during the winter transfer period, they will try to put together the strongest possible team towards the second half of the 2023/2024 season and the distant future. As the CEO of ŠK Slovan Bratislava, Ivan Kmotrík Jr., revealed in an interview on the “Belasých” website, the goal of the Bratislava club is to win the championship and attract more spectators to league meetings.

news-item-description">Hockey Slovan Bratislava was hit by the news of the death of owner Rudolf Hrubé a week ago. There have been speculations that the club will be taken over by the Kmotrík family, which already owns Slovan football club.

“We will go for the title. If we could do that, next season we would probably be seeded in all four qualifying rounds, which would be a unique position,” said an official from Tehelné polě in an interview. He claims that in connection with transfers to Slovan, it will depend on how many players leave the club. “We have a wide list of players we are interested in, I am in contact with several of them and their clubs. We will work on it and see what the next days and weeks bring.”

Godfather explained that the Ghanaian striker Malik Abubakari will no longer continue with the Slovan team, whose loan from the Swedish club Malmö FF will end on December 31. He says that he is interested in several Slovan players, including Serbian striker Aleksandar Čavrič. “There is interest in our players, Čavrič is one of them. Offers are coming in that are starting to get interesting. We’ll see how it develops, it all has to make sense for all parties. We still have a valid contract with Čavrič for another 1.5 years. Several alternatives are open. We are not pushed to the wall,” he pointed out.

In Slovan, they look beyond the short term and would also like to rejuvenate the player squad. “One of our goals is to have players with interesting sales potential in Slovan. This is also a way to progress and earn income. On the other hand, in Europe you need a combination of experience and youth. It is the experience of the players in the current squad that helped us immensely to move in the European coefficient, where we have a completely different position than in the past,” says the Godfather.

While more than 10,000 fans came to Tehelná pole 15 times in a row for home matches in the European Cup, the highest number of visitors in the top Slovak competition was the duel with AS Trenčín in the autumn, namely 6,283 spectators.

“We must openly say that if we want to play in Europe for a long time or move up in it, i.e. to the European League or the dream Champions League, we need to fill the stadium for the league as well. We have to do even more intensively in order to attract people and convince them to go to league matches as well. Of course, we are grateful to everyone who comes to support us both at home and at matches away from home.” concluded the Godfather.
