HUAWEI’s Mate 60 Pro is a mobile phone that has returned to the 5G market after years of US sanctions, surprising European and American countries. TechInsights, a Canadian research institute, recently took apart the Meta 60 Pro for research and found that it has two memory chips produced by Hynix, one 12GB LPDDR5 memory chip and one 12GB NAND flash memory chip. . As soon as the news came out, Hynix’s stock price fell by more than 4%.
Due to the ban, SK Hynix cannot export chips to Huawei. The outside world is paying attention to how Huawei obtained these chips and whether anyone violated the ban. Hynix told the media that it has launched an investigation into this matter. The company’s statement pointed out that since the introduction of the US ban, the company has strictly complied with the relevant ban and has no further business dealings with HUAWEI.
Industry insiders believe that HUAWEI may have purchased the relevant chips through the secondary market instead of purchasing them directly from the manufacturer, or it may have accumulated a batch of components before the ban took full effect.
TechInsights is still studying the Mate 60 Pro phone and does not rule out finding more chips that are subject to the US ban. However, most of the components on mobile phones are currently supplied by domestic suppliers in China.
