A police source announced to AFP that the six people were detained on Tuesday in several regions of southern, central and eastern France.
Two of the detainees were charged with theft and organized crime, and the remaining four with theft, added the same police and judicial sources.
The six suspects are in remand.
The work attributed to the famous anonymous British artist Banksy had been painted in 2018 on a metal emergency door in the Parisian Bataclan salon.
The painting, which depicts a sad-looking female figure, is a tribute to the place where 90 people were killed on November 13, 2015, during a series of ‘jihadist’ attacks that hit Paris.
Criminals stole the work after cutting the door at dawn from 25 to 26 January 2019.
The Italian police announced on June 10 the recovery of the door, on a farm in the Abruzzo region, during a joint operation by the French police and Italian marines.
