“This gives a sum of seven positive cases at the Aguas Buenas headquarters. We have also received 19 negative results and we hope to receive the remaining 12 results shortly,” he added.
The government had announced that the barracks’ staff, including supervisors, were sent to their residences in preventive isolation after an officer assigned to that facility tested positive for the novel virus.
Regarding the first case, Police Commissioner Henry Escalera indicated on Sunday that “the comrade worked until Sunday, March 22, when he left his shift to enjoy his ordinary days off.”
“On Wednesday, March 25, he reported that he would be absent for the next few days due to illness. He was treated at the Veterans Hospital, where they carried out the corresponding examinations and today they notified the positive results to COVID-19,” he added. .
For his part, the mayor of Aguas Buenas said that the agents were sent to have the tests done in a laboratory in Arecibo and those who had found negative “could return to work this week” when they could reopen the Aguas Buenas headquarters.
As for those who tested positive, the official said that he was informed that two officers reside in his municipality.
“They told me that they are in their houses for 14 days in quarantine. When that period ends, they will undergo other tests again,” García said.
“These (barracks cases) are the first to be publicly disclosed in our municipality. As a result, we have continued with the message that they should not stay out of their homes for things other than medical or food,” he added. “As a preventive measure, we keep cleaning the municipality and disinfecting areas.”
García pointed out that officers from the Caguas Command are handling calls and complaints from Aguas Buenas, while surveillance of the barracks in that municipality is carried out by Cifra agents.
