Six people tested positive for monkeypox last week

A total of 1,215 people in the Netherlands have now tested positive for the virus. A week ago the counter stood at 1209 and a week earlier at 1195.

Most of the people who have tested positive are men who have sex with men (MSM). A part of that group has therefore long been able to obtain preventive vaccinations against the coronavirus. About 32,000 people were invited. They take two hits. So far 19,034 shots have been taken. This is 2052 more than last week. RIVM does not yet know how many people have accepted the invitation to vaccination.

More than 24,000 positive tests have been recorded across Europe. Spain leads the list with over 7,000 confirmed infections. Followed by France (almost 3900), Germany (almost 3600), Great Britain (more than 3500) and the Netherlands. Five people in Europe have died from the infection. (ANP)
