The events took place around 6:45 in the station. For a reason that remains to be determined, the man attacked several people with a bladed weapon. It would be a homemade weapon, of the fist type. The police overwhelmed him, wounding him with bullets. He was seriously injured and was hospitalized.
Second FM TV, six people were injured, one seriously. Among the lightly affected victims was a Border Police official who intervened during the attack.
A major security system has been implemented and a security perimeter established.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin – who will travel to the scene – reacted very quickly on Twitter, welcoming the police action in particular: “An individual injured several people this morning at the Gare du Nord. He was quickly neutralized Thanks to the police for their effective and courageous response”
The Minister provided some details on the conditions in which the attacker was neutralized. “Two policemen shoot three times and manage to neutralize this menacing individual,” he explained. One of the officials who attended had finished his service and was on his way home.
The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to determine the circumstances and reasons for this attack. The suspect had no identification documents with him. He was, this late Wednesday morning, still being identified.
Consequences on rail traffic
Interruptions are expected on trains departing and arriving at Gare du Nord, which, according to the SNCF, “continues to operate normally”.
