Sinovac Vaccine Does Not Work Against Corona Virus New Variants in Brazil

TRIBUNJOGJA.COM, SAO PAOLO – The Corona virus from China or Covid-19 has not been resolved.

However, now the new Corona virus has appeared again, starting from the Corona variant in England to the new variant from Brazil.

As more and more types of Corona virus emerged, researchers then conducted research on whether the current vaccine was able to create immunity against this new virus.

Among them are a team from the University of Sao Paulo, the University of Washington School of Medicine and a number of institutions conducting research in Brazil.

As a result, they found that the Corona virus vaccine currently used, namely Sinovac, apparently it is not effective against the virus in that country.

This Brazilian study was conducted by taking plasma samples from eight people who had been injected with the vaccine Sinovac.

From the results of research papers, plasma samples from eight people who were vaccinated with CoronaVac Sinovac it apparently failed to neutralize the P.1 or 20J / 501Y.V3 lineages.

“These results suggest that the P.1 virus may have escaped the neutralizing antibodies caused by CoronaVac,” said a combination of researchers from Brazil’s University of Sao Paulo and University of Washington School of Medicine.

Vaccine Sinovac itself is used in mass vaccination programs in several countries, namely China, Brazil, Turkey, including Indonesia.

Although research suggests Covid-19 reinfection can occur in vaccinated individuals, protection is provided Sinovac demonstrates another mechanism in the human immune system.
