Kelis shares Instagram that she gave birth to her first daughter last week. The 41-year-old singer already has two sons. It is the second child with husband Mike Mora.
“I have been quiet for a while, but I have a good reason for that,” the singer shares in a video on Instagram. “I gave birth last week. It was very intense. Normally I don’t share much about my private life, but I wanted to tell you this anyway.”
Only last month did Kelis announce the pregnancy. “Chef Kelis, table for five please,” she wrote with a photo showing her holding up a pregnancy test. “I’m going to add one to my family.”
Kelis became the mother of son Knight in 2009. The child’s father is rapper Nas, with whom the singer was married until 2009. In 2014 she married Mike Mora, with whom she had son Shepherd in 2015.
The singer had a worldwide breakthrough in 1999 with the song Caught Out There. She then scored big hits with Milkshake, Trick Me in Acapella. Kelis was still in the Netherlands last March, when she performed in Paradiso.
