According to the organizers of the concert from “Positivus Music”, Jose Gonzalez has previously performed at the “Positivus” festival, where the artist has played with his melodic folk rock group “Junip” at the 2014 festival and solo at the 2017 festival. The musician has also previously visited Riga with solo concerts.

Jose Gonzalez began his solo career in 2003 with his debut album Veneer, presenting himself as a lyrical indi-pop character with a gentle vocal accompaniment to his own acoustic guitar accompaniment. With the release of his debut album, the artist introduced his listeners to his long-sought musical niche, soothing and always relevant, the concert organizers write about the musician.

Junip, on the other hand, is a band formed by the artist in the late 1990s with two childhood friends and announced in 2000 as a sophisticated, virtually psychedelic folk rock association. The lazy dynamic group debut album “Fields” (2010) became a favorite of listeners and music critics, the organizers say. Junip is also known for songs from the soundtrack to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

In his latest studio album “Local Valley” (2021), which will feature José Gonzalez in Riga, the artist continues to be faithful to his characteristic style of music. In creating this album, the musician will focus on a more local range of topics, which is also reflected in the title of the album. It includes not only the sounds of nature recorded in the artist’s yard, but also compositions composed in three languages well known to the artist – English, Swedish and Spanish. The artist himself has pointed out that the music must be melodic and soothing and must be enjoyed in an instant.
