After her hugely popular debut album, it was silent for years around pop singer Duffy. Until today. In a post on Instagram, she writes that she has been drugged, detained and raped by an unnamed person.
In the message, she says, “The truth is, and trust me when I say this, that I am safe now. But I have been raped and drugged and detained for a few days.” The singer from Wales suddenly stopped making music in 2011, and disappeared from the spotlights. For a long time it was unclear why she came to this decision.
“The recovery took time. In the thousands of days that followed, I wanted to feel the sun in my heart again. That’s the case now,” she writes. In the coming weeks she will publish an interview in which she promises to answer all the questions people have.
