Singapore’s Covid Cases Explode Due to KTV’s ‘Plus-plus’ Karaoke

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Singapore reported 172 new cases of Covid-19 in the country, Monday (19/7/2021). The number consists of 116 infections related to the Jurong Fishing Port cluster and 20 cases related to the KTV cluster.

This is the highest total number of new Covid-19 cases recorded since August 10, 2020 when 188 new infections were identified.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said 146 of the locally transmitted infections were linked to previous cases, with 44 already placed in quarantine and 102 cases detected through surveillance testing. The other 17 infections were not linked to the previous case.

Among the new cases, there is one person over the age of 70 who was not vaccinated and is at risk of becoming seriously ill.

At around 12.40am on Tuesday, the KTV cluster had a total of 193 cases while the Jurong Fishing Port and Hong Lim Market & Food Center cluster had 179 infections.

There were also nine imported cases, all of whom were either placed at home or isolated on arrival. Four of these cases were detected on arrival in Singapore, while the other five cases occurred during the stay-at-home notice or isolation period.
