Singapore Hospital Stuck Due to Covid: 18 Critical, 2 Died

Hospital (RS) in Singapore starting to get overwhelmed with patients Covid-19 in that country. Two more deaths were recorded in Singapore due to Covid-19 as of Monday (20/9). A total of 62 deaths from Covid-19 in the country.

Previously, it was reported that the Emergency Units (ER) in a number of Singapore hospitals barely accommodated Covid-19 patients anymore.

Launching from Channel News Asia, the Ministry of Health of Singapore said that a total of 1,055 patients were being treated at the Singapore Hospital. A total of 128 of them experienced severe symptoms.

Of the total patients with severe symptoms, 18 of them were critical. So far, two patients have died, one of whom is an 84-year-old man.

The patient died while undergoing intensive care at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital due to exposure to Covid-19.

“The deceased has been vaccinated against Covid-19, but has a medical history (comorbid) of heart, hypertension, hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol). Coupled with his age, he has experienced severe symptoms, “said a statement from the Singapore Ministry of Health quoted from Channel News Asia.

Of the total 128 patients with severe symptoms, 122 were patients over the age of 60.

Singapore also recorded a daily case of 910 positive cases on Monday (20/9). That number is predicted to continue to grow today.

Previously, Singapore’s Minister of Health, Ong Ye Kung, appealed that young Covid-19 patients do not need to be treated in hospitals given the almost full capacity.

“This is so that hospital beds, emergency room services, reach those who need it most. Our ICU capacity is still holding up, but the ER and general wards are almost full,” Ong said as reported by the press. Channel News Asia.

“Our hospitals and health workers cannot be burdened. At this point, this is the MOH (Ministry of Health) biggest challenge and we are doing our best to solve this,” Ong said via Facebook, reported The Straits Times.
