Four flights from the United States to Santiago are diverted to Las Americas

Dominican Republic.- Four flights from the United States bound for the Santiago International Airport were diverted early this Saturday to the Las Américas terminal, one due to technical problems and the other three due to weather conditions.

As reported to Efe by the Aerodom company, which manages the Las Américas International Airport (Aila), a Jetblue aircraft from Newark, New Jersey, United States, bound for Santiago, declared an emergency due to problems in the navigation equipment.

For this reason, flight 1537 departing from San Juan de Puerto Rico was diverted to Santo Domingo, where the A320 model aircraft landed at 3.18 a.m. without news, said Aerodom communication manager Luis José López Mena.

On the other hand, three other flights, also from the United States, were diverted due to a dense fog in the area of the Santiago Airport and, likewise, landed at the Santo Domingo terminal.

These are flights 893 and 923, also of the Jetblue company, which took off from Newark and Boston, respectively, and flight NK 633 of the Spirit company, departing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
