WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging applications in Spain, but it is not compatible with all devices. Over time, certain phones become obsolete, leading application developers not to update them for those specific terminals. This year it was the old iPhone 12 from 2020, the mythical Apple terminal that some still have, even out of nostalgia.
“I was already very slow and, even if it was compatible, the battery ran out after ten minutes of chatting”, admits Alberto González Esteban, a true lover of “old junk”. He says he even has an iPhone “the kind that came with a charger,” although of course it doesn’t even turn on. «Using an old iPhone from last year forces you to navigate slowly, it is quite a ritual. Although running out of courier service turns these relics into little more than decorative objects, on the second-hand market they can be sold for more than 15 euros. “Suddenly they are in fashion with collectors and they are revalued. That is why it is advisable to keep them even if they are not used ”, advises González.
Apple recommends always carrying two phones with you, one more recent than the other, in case the one in use at that time becomes obsolete and we are far from a store where we can buy a new terminal that works properly.
