Simone Biles and Novak Djokovic Named AIPS Athletes of the Year 2023

The American gymnast Simone Biles and the world number one Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic have been chosen athletes of the year 2023 by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), in which a panel of 405 journalists from 107 countries voted for the best.

Biles has had an unforgettable 2023 by taking first place in the women’s category with a total of 353 votes collected.

In second place was the Kenyan middle distance runner Faith Kipyegon, with 329 votes, and in third, the Spanish soccer player Aitana Bonmati, with 297.

Djokovic took first place in this year’s edition with a total of 616 points collected in the men’s category.

In second place was the Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis with 335 points, and in third place was the Argentine soccer player Lionel Messi, with 277. (D)
