Significantly fewer vacancies in the largest Swiss companies

Zurich – The personnel requirements of large companies decreased slightly in November. Compared to a month ago, around 11% fewer job vacancies are currently being advertised on the websites of the 50 largest Swiss companies.

Overall, the job portal Indeed, which rates job postings on AWP news agency websites, counted just over 10,000 vacancies. About 850 of these were apprenticeships. Within a month, the number of jobs fell significantly, as almost 11,400 open positions were still registered in mid-October, of which almost 700 were apprenticeships.

The major retailers Migros and Coop and the Fenaco cooperative, which includes numerous food processing companies and the Landi and Volg shops, continued to advertise the largest number of jobs. However, the demand for personnel has also declined at these companies – and also very markedly at Coop with more than 40 percent fewer vacancies.

While in some companies the staffing requirement has decreased at least a little, others have now announced significantly more jobs: SBB now has 17 percent more advertisements on the website than in October. Pharmaceutical giants Roche and Novartis are also looking for a lot more staff. (awp/mc/ps)
