Approximately 4,200 employees who have previously been entitled to six weeks’ leave will have five new weeks.
Tonight, the management of Czech Railways signed a collective agreement with the heads of the trade union headquarters for next year. Wages will rise by three to four percent, the railways said in a press release.
According to the chairman of the ČD board of directors, Ivan Bednárik, collective bargaining fell into a difficult period of covid plague. “Anti-epidemic measures and a change in people’s travel habits, caused directly or indirectly, have deprived us of sales in the order of billions of crowns. At the same time, there is a sharp increase in external costs, which cannot be influenced by us in any way. This, of course, limits the employer’s ability to increase salaries and expand benefits. “ said Bednárik.
According to him, the negotiations were a difficult struggle and the result is a compromise. “No one leaves the table satisfied. Preserving the functionality of the company and social peace, that is what I would call today’s result, “ added the manager.
According to the Railways, the company’s collective agreement will ensure that wages will grow by 4 percent in tariff classes 1 to 12, ie for most operating workers, in 2022. For other employees, wage growth will average 3 to 3.5 percent. Most of the existing provisions and benefits for employees, such as the length of working hours, various forms of contributions, including supplementary pension insurance, are preserved without significant changes.
The adjustments will affect the leave of staff who do not directly operate the trains. Approximately 4,200 employees who have previously been entitled to six weeks’ leave will have five new weeks. However, if an employee runs out of leave in a given year, he or she will be able to take another week of paid leave in the last quarter. At the same time, there was also an adjustment of fitness stays for a group of employees who do not bear the greatest responsibility for the safety of train traffic. There are no changes in the people who take care of the operation.
The concluded collective agreement means an increase in personnel costs for České dráhy up to CZK 400 million.
When you happen to see me with this old-fashioned tie, which I received from CD Cargo some 13 years ago as a gift, it means that I am signing something important then. A few minutes ago, I tied her up to sign the PKS, I hope she will help as she has helped since 2014. pic.twitter.com/Fz0A4GBznp
