Sigma 15mm f/1.4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye Lens: A Game Changer for Astrophotography

Gadget news

Noise is a scourge in astrophotography. Therefore, Sigma is launching the world’s brightest fisheye lens so that you can get images of the firmament with high image quality.

Sigma 15 mm f/1,4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye | Art provides a 180 degree diagonal image angle and displays the entire thumbnail format (full format).

In addition to high brightness, high sharpness over the entire image surface and low occurrence of optical errors are also desirable – this is exactly what Sigma promises their new lens provides.

The optical construction is complex and consists of 21 lenses, four of which are in FLD glass, three in SLD glass and two aspherically shaped.

The lens has autofocus but will probably be manually focused by most astrophotographers. There is a lock for the focus ring so that you don’t accidentally change the focus.

A really odd feature is the lens heater, which may be needed for very long exposure times in the cold so that the front lens does not fog up again.

The lens heater is an extra accessory to prevent the front lens of the lens from freezing again in the cold.

The heavily arched front lens means that there is no socket for glass filters at the front. Instead, there is a holder for plastic filters at the back.

The weight is a whopping 1,360 grams and therefore there is an Arca Swiss compatible tripod mount.

Sigma 15mm f/1.4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye | Art is sold with two different lens mounts: Sony E and L-mount. The recommended price is SEK 25,395 including VAT.
