Shopping Sundays 2021. Are stores open on May 23? Exceptions list

This Sunday is the Solemnity of Pentecost – one of the most important church holidays, also known as Pentecost. Even in the years when trading on Sundays was allowed, shops were closed on that day, only those shops where the owner stood behind the counter could be opened.

Sunday, May 23. Are the stores open?

Sunday, May 23, is not an exception, so stores will be closed that day. This is not a shopping Sunday.

Trading Sundays 2021

This year, for the first time since the law restricting trade on Sunday and public holidays entered into force, we have not dealt with any tightening of regulations. No new provisions entered into force in January, therefore, as in the previous year, there will be 7 trading Sundays in 2021.

Two trading Sundays are scheduled for December. This arrangement is not new, as we already had more trade Sundays in the last month of the year in 2019 and 2020.

The novelty is the lack of two trading Sundays in April, when it is Easter. Instead, one trading Sunday will take place in March and the other in April. The next Sunday will not be trading, and the next one will not be available until June.

Trading Sundays 2021 – calendar:

  • January 31, 2021
  • 28 mark 2021 r.,
  • April 25, 2021
  • June 27, 2021
  • August 29, 2021
  • December 12, 2021

The next trading Sunday will not take place until the end of June. For this, we would like to remind you that stores open every Sunday include:

  • florists,
  • neighborhood shops where the owner serves the clients,
  • eateries (due to the pandemic, only those with a take-away or delivery offer may be open),
  • post offices,
  • florists,
  • supermarkets at railway stations,
  • petrol stations
  • Franchise stores such as Żabka, Lewiatan, Freshmarket, if the owner stands behind the counter
