GIACARTA, KOMPAS.com – Agency e-commerce Shopee And Tokopedia compact applies an additional commission policy of IDR 1,000 for each in-app transaction. This policy has already been implemented.
From Shopee the withdrawal of the fee has been in force since Sunday (23/10/2022). As for Tokopedia, this policy has been in effect since August 2022.
So what exactly are these additional costs for?

Service development
Shopee said that additional Shopee fees were charged for the convenience of customers because they were used to develop better services.
“The Service Fee will be applied starting October 23, 2022 for transactions via the Shopee website or application valued at IDR 1,000 per transaction“wrote Shopee on the Shopee Help Center page.
This commission will be applied to every physical product transaction, both on the site and through the Shopee application that the user makes. In addition, this fee applies to purchases made with any payment method and without a minimum purchase.

Meanwhile, for new Shopee users, this Shopee service fee will be charged after making 4 transactions.
“Service fees do not apply to digital product transactions such as finance, Zakat, donations, with the exception of digital products included in the purchase of physical products“Shopee said.
Shopee further stated that the cost of this service includes the cost of value added tax (VAT) in accordance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
With this service fee, in each purchase transaction, the customer will be charged an additional IDR 1,000 when making an alias payment watch.
This Shopee service fee will apply for any payment method and without a minimum purchase.

System under maintenance
Meanwhile, Tokopedia said, application service fees have been applied for the purposes of system maintenance and service improvement in transactions on Tokopedia.
“One way is to apply an application service fee of IDR 1,000 starting August 3, 2022 for each physical product transaction via the Tokopedia website or application,” said Ekhel Chandra Wijaya, Tokopedia’s Head of External Communications .
This service fee for the Tokopedia application, Ekhel continued, does not apply to transactions for financial products, digital products, TopAds, zakat and donations, with the exception of gold rounding transactions, donations or credits included in the purchase of physical products.

Users will not be charged an application service fee if the total payment is IDR 0 (special promo) and there is free information from Tokopedia on the payment page.
Meanwhile, service fees apply to every transaction using instant payment methods via CIMB’s KlikBCA, BCA Klikpay, BRImo, CIMB Clicks, Jenius Pay, JakOne, LinkAja, Direct Debit BRI, OneKlik, Direct Debit Mandiri and OCTO Cash Niaga.
“Service fees are different and separate from application service fees. Application service fees are charged for all payment methods,” he said.
