On Saturday around 5 p.m. a firearms fight broke out between inspectors from the local police in Voeren and a motorist who had previously fled a police check in Moelingen, after which a police chase ensued.

The man who shot the police with a firearm is a 32-year-old man from Germany. After fleeing the control, he got stuck in the center of ‘s Gravenvoeren. He then forcibly carjacked an oncoming vehicle, but a gun battle ensued between him and the police, in which he sustained life-threatening injuries.
A 41-year-old female passer-by from Eijsden in the Netherlands was also injured, but her life is not in danger.
In addition to the 41-year-old woman from Eijsden, a 45-year-old woman was shocked by the shooting incident.
