Sheila went to Mexico for stem cell therapy to alleviate the after effects of cancer

A special book presentation on Saturday in Waalwijk. Businesswoman Sheila van der Meeren presented her book: Fuck, I have cancer. Van der Meeren wrote the book to be able to pay for stem cell treatment abroad. This therapy was necessary to relieve the complaints that she had after her breast cancer treatments. Stem cell treatments do not take place in the Netherlands to relieve persistent complaints after cancer treatment, but abroad.

“I am the first Dutch woman to have this treatment done. I had to raise a lot of money to pay for the treatment. The health insurer does not pay. The money for the treatment comes from the pre-sale of the book: Fuck, I have cancer and donations, ”says Van der Meeren. In early June, she was treated at a clinic in Guadalajara, Mexico.

In the video, Sheila tells how the treatment went and how she feels now

Roel and Ingeborg from Drunen have bought the book in presale. “We did that for the purpose behind it, among other things. Generating money for stem cell therapy, ”says Roel. Ellis from Waalwijk also bought the book for that reason, but also out of involvement with the subject. “Everyone knows someone who has or has had breast cancer, or who has even died from it. It is special that Sheila, whom I personally know, has written a book about it. ”

Breast cancer was diagnosed in Van der Meeren in the spring of 2018. She was declared cancer-free after many treatments, but the many irradiations and chemotherapy had a devastating effect on her body, she said in March this year. “As they call it, I suffer from a chemo brain. I cannot come up with certain words and I forget things very easily. I have neuropathy on my legs, which manifests itself in pain shoots. I am also tired, sleep badly and cannot walk that far anymore. ”

In the Saturday book: Fuck I have cancer, which Van der Meeren wrote under the pseudonym Iris Lemeare, she describes the true story of hope and despair. “The impressive story of this 43-year-old superwoman will inspire and advise people,” said editor Iza Bergmans. “You are not only drawn into everything Iris has to experience, but your knowledge is also increased by her countless tips. With this book Iris wants to reach others and help them in their (illness) process. ”
