Sharjah Museums Authority to Host Retrospective Exhibition by Palestinian-American Artist Samia Halabi

Sharjah, September 17 / WAM / The Sharjah Museums Authority is hosting, as part of its annual series “Milestones”, a retrospective exhibition by the Palestinian-American artist Samia Halabi, which will be held for the first time in the Emirate of Sharjah from September 20 to January 7, where the artist has made great efforts to collect more than 200 works. Artistic work spanning over six decades.

The works that will be displayed include a diverse and comprehensive range from abstraction and digital works to powerful documentary drawings, as these works will be borrowed from multiple local and international collections, including Samia Halabi’s private studio in New York, while curator Enas Yassin will supervise this comprehensive exhibition, which provides an opportunity For the audience to explore and learn closely about the development and diversity of artist Samia Halabi’s creativity over the decades.

The artworks on display include abstract and digital works that embody her permanent artistic contributions, including the painting “Swinging” 1987, the painting “Jabordak” 1994, the painting “Fruits and Pumpkins” 1994, the paintings “Spring Fluctuations”, 1999, “Green Flamenco”, 1999, and “Milky Pearl” 1999.

Aisha Rashid Dimas, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority, said: “Samia Halabi’s profound influence on the global and regional art scene cannot be overstated, as her unique ability to distill complex themes and transform them into exciting abstract works has left an indelible mark on the contemporary art scene.” “This unique retrospective is a testament to her genius and the lasting impact of her work.”

She added, “By displaying the artist’s works, the Sharjah Museums Authority once again confirms its commitment to supporting and encouraging distinguished artists from the Arab world and beyond, as the “Making Marks” series, since its launch in 2010, has provided a valuable platform to showcase the contributions of prominent Arab artists to global art and culture.”

In turn, the artist Samia Halabi pointed out that the title of the series of exhibitions, “Milestones,” is related to the great influence that her works had on the history of general Arab art, as well as on today’s youth, especially in the Arab world, noting that the Sharjah Art Museum, through this rare retrospective exhibition, displays more than sixty A year of her thinking process as an artist and presents her works that embody the self-dialogue she has with herself.
