But now, in an interview on Mexican channel Canal Estrellas, Shakira is straight out about the heartache she felt. In it, the ‘She Wolf’ singer says she always dreamed of a family where mom and dad live under one roof, but that dream has been painfully shattered. “I have to admit that I was always emotionally dependent on men. I was in love with love, but today I am independent and self-sufficient. As a woman you emerge stronger from the trials that come with life.”

The Colombian also wants to share an important insight with other women: “You don’t need a man to feel complete. I always believed that a woman needed a man to be complete. Now I feel complete and have more self-confidence, precisely because I fall back on myself and am independent. I am a mother of two children. They count on me and I have to be stronger than a lioness for them.”

Meanwhile, Gerard Piqué has found love again with 23-year-old student Clara Chia Mortí. The former Barcelona footballer made the relationship official on Instagram in January.
