Sexism on 7 vs Wild in the comments
Millions of fans are currently watching the survival show ‘7 vs. Wild’ on YouTube. One thing in particular emerged in the last episode of 30 November: the hatred towards Antonia aka Starletnova is getting bigger and bigger. Sometimes they just teem with sexism. Read more here.
“Nova’s howl is annoying”
The new episode of the YouTube show “7 vs. Wild” is imminent: the third day is now over and almost all the candidates have a little discomfort. Fritz is worried about his feet, which seem to shed their skin. Knossi injured his foot on day one, Sascha has diarrhea and is struggling with nausea, Sabrina is struggling with the cold and humidity and Joris has already suffered a few injuries and is having some real mood swings.

But Antonia aka Starletnova in particular apparently underestimated one point of the survival show: isolation. The streamer is so mentally broken on day three that she keeps crying and can’t bear to be alone on the stretch of beach. Sequences of her always show her in the same spot, almost in the same pose, much to the annoyance of many viewers. They were hoping for more from the Twitch star. “There’s sort of zero content in Nova,” one Twitter user complains. The streamer is sitting on the beach and crying.
Another expects even more from her: “Nova so unbearable,” he writes, by the way. Many fans of the show can’t understand why Nova doesn’t change almost anything about their situation, but then complain about it.
But the candidate simply cannot pull herself together, many now believing she will be the first to leave the island, voluntarily. A Twitter user suspects that Nova is addicted to social media and therefore she finds it difficult to be alone on the island.
In a live stream, a Twitter user took a snapshot of a viewer’s comment. In it, a fan is sure that Fritz wasted a valuable participant spot with Nova.

The comments against Nova are nasty, but unlike others they are still quite harmless. Many viewers of the show choose a completely different language. And sometimes it’s just teeming with sexism. One Twitter user is sure that Nova is a good example that women aren’t cut out for such tasks. “Three days and she’s just crying,” he scoffs.
Another Twitter user apparently agrees. “Why can’t you get sensible women who represent the whole thing well? They also know you can leave at any time and then see your family again. Crappy company,” he read in the comment.
It should be almost clear that all haters are probably just sitting in front of the PC or on the couch. Some even seem to have forgotten that Sabrina, for example, has built herself an absolutely impressive shelter. However, with each new episode of ‘7 vs. Wild’ there are always new survival experts who would do better from the sofa at home than two women who survive in the jungle and shed a few tears in the process.
Was there perhaps too much emphasis on drama in the show? At least that’s what some viewers suspect in episode eight. Nova said in a stream that she’s explored a lot, but viewers almost exclusively see her emotional outbursts. But whether it was edited that way or the candidates just filmed certain things, only they know.
