Seville and Llíria, the first Spanish cities to test eHang drones

Little by little we begin to see how the urban air mobility it stops being a dream more typical of science fiction movies to become a reality. In fact, it has even reached our country as shown by the recent agreements of the Chinese company specialized in urban, electric and autonomous air vehicles, eHang, and the cities of Seville Y LLíria (Valencia) to start test your passenger drones.

Both cities have signed an agreement with this leading company in the development of autonomous air vehicles to start urban air mobility testing programs. As we discovered a week ago, Seville would be the first Spanish city to participate in this program that will include tests with the eHang 216, one of its latest models, in addition to others related to air logistics and the management of command and control platforms.

Now it has been the Valencian city of LLíria that has joined these urban air mobility projects with the development of a 3D air mobility solution for smart cities and a program for the transport of passengers for different purposes, including of course the tourism. Other cities like Linz (Austria) and Guangzhou (China) are also already working with the company, while Norway It has already given its approval so that eHang can operate in its territory by participating in pilot projects.

This is the eHang 216

The model chosen for these tests is the eHang 216, a electric drone vertical landing and takeoff (VTOL) with 16 propellers which is capable of accommodating two passengers inside its cabin, and that works completely autonomously. To move it has a battery that allows autonomy of 25 minutes. In addition, inside it has two 9.7-inch screens that allow you to interact and monitor the operation of the model in real time, even showing travel information, control, satellite navigation and flight tracking.

This type of vehicle is expected to be not only a great solution to decongest traffic in big cities in the future, but also to offer a fast and agile alternative for him merchandise transports and even for medical emergencies.
