Severely Injured Employee Found Covered in Sawdust: Investigation Launched in Anykščiai Village

A severely injured employee was found on the premises of the company located in this village.

In the sawdust tower at 4:10 p.m. a man (born in 1975) was found covered in sawdust in critical condition.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the violation of worker safety and health requirements.

The employees of the company on the territory of which the accident occurred said that the driver had come from the Panevėžys company “Ekologinis biokuras”.

“There is a pump attached to the truck that pumps chips into the trailer through the open tower door.

The guard missed the first driver and informed the managers. The guard said the fan was whirring, but no one was seen near the truck.

At first we thought maybe the driver had gone for a coffee, but we couldn’t find him anywhere. Then we realized that we needed to look for chips in the tower, and we started digging.

The driver was 1-1.5 m from the door, covered in a thick layer of chips. When we dug him up, the man was quite suffocated. We resuscitated him until the ambulance arrived.

This driver is not coming to us for the first time. He had been warned several times before by both the guard and other employees not to enter that tower, but he ignored it. And there was an accident,” the representative of the wood processing company in the Anykščiai district told the portal.
