Severe Weather and Poor Air Quality Watch in New Jersey – Weekly Forecast

With severe weather hitting parts of our area, including New Jersey, on Sunday, the work week begins with a hazy, hot, and humid day. The heat and haze will combine to raise ground-level ozone levels, while that northwesterly winds will continue to carry smoke from the Canadian wildfires into our region. This leads to a Poor Air Quality Watch being issued in effect for Monday due to unhealthy AQI levels expected to be above 100.

With severe weather hitting parts of our area, including New Jersey, on Sunday, the work week kicks off with a foggy, hot and humid day. Because of this, Garden State Governor Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency on Sunday to provide relief to those affected by severe weather.

Rain will return on Tuesday with a chance of a few scattered thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening, which may produce more flooding with the ground completely saturated with all the rains that have been witnessed during the month of July.

Humidity will drop by mid-week before another frontal system approaches bringing more rain to end the work week.
