Several people, including an 8-year-old child riding a bicycle, were injured by fire in a city of
La Seyne-sur-Mer, near
Toulon (Var), Saturday evening, we learned from concordant sources. The facts occurred at the city Berthe, indicate these sources, in circumstances which remain still imprecise.
“The shooting took place around midnight, it was small lead fire which, as it stood, caused slight injuries to two people and perhaps a third,” said Bernard Marchal, public prosecutor of Toulon, AFP.
Four injured, no life prognosis involved
Among the injured, a forties was hit in the leg. “An 8-year-old boy was also hit by a small pellet on the back of his head while riding a bicycle,” said the magistrate. A third person, a shocked teenager, was also taken care of by the emergency services, who for their part gave an assessment of four victims, including another man. None of the injured are life-threatening.
The suspects are two people who were seen on a scooter, helmeted. The investigation was entrusted to the Toulon judicial police.
Mayor calls for more police presence
The mayor of Seyne-sur-mer, Marc Vuillemot (PS), asked the police to “urgently reinforce its presence” in these districts, in a statement Sunday. He also announced the deployment of municipal actors on the ground “to prevent the long idleness due to dropout from the health crisis leading to new miners in deviance”. Marc Vuillemot also calls on families to ban minors “from staying outside until the end of the night”.
The Cité Berthe, in La Seyne-sur-Mer, was in the past the scene of numerous shots and settling of scores, the most spectacular of which dates back to September 2018 when
two teenagers, Including an ex-football player from the Saint-Etienne reserve team, had been killed.
