In Itegem, a sub-municipality of Heist-op-den-Berg, two seriously injured people and five slightly injured people were injured on Saturday evening when a car crashed into brasserie ‘t Spinnewiel. Two occupants of the car were seriously injured and the other two suffered minor injuries. It concerns four young people: the driver, who tested negative on a drugs and alcohol test, is eighteen. Three people who were in the brasserie were also injured. All victims were taken to hospital on Saturday evening.
The restaurant is located on a dangerous bend. Whether excessive speed was involved or another cause of the accident remains to be further investigated.
