Several hundred people cut a Madrid artery for a pan against the Government | Spain

Several hundred people have taken to the streets this Sunday to celebrate a pan against the Government of Pedro Sánchez on the Paseo de la Habana in Madrid, in the El Viso neighborhood, the richest in Spain, according to the National Institute of Statistics ( INE). The gathering, which was attended by a multitude of people without respecting social distance, with many of them wearing masks and also wearing Spanish flags, has demanded the resignation of the President of the Executive. The protesters, summoned by the ultra-Catholic group Hazte Oír, have chanted chants of “Government resignation”, “freedom” and “we are Spanish, not Venezuelans,” reports Miguel González. The minority protests of these days in the Núñez de Balboa street, in the heart of the Salamanca district, have spread today to other points in the capital, including Ferraz street, where the PSOE headquarters are located, and the Chamberí neighborhood.

Make yourself heard called for this Sunday about twenty demonstrations in Madrid, 10 in several provincial capitals and one in Marbella. It has been the one on the Paseo de la Habana that has gathered the most people in the capital of Spain. Six vans of the National Police have attended the protest at the concentration of people in a state of alarm – the Community of Madrid is still in phase 0 and social gatherings are not yet allowed – due to the coronavirus crisis, which in Spain has already left more than 27,600 dead and more than 231,000 infected. The agents have tried to separate the protesters, but after failing to do so, they have remained in a nearby area amid shouts of “Long live the Police.” The concentration has started to dissolve around 9:30 pm, an hour after starting.

Another minority protest has been held in front of the national headquarters of the PSOE, on Calle Ferraz in Madrid, where a group of citizens, wrapped in Spanish flags, have launched proclamations such as “Sánchez resignation” or “Sánchez a prison” while they were in movement to – in this case – safeguard the safety distance, according to Europa Press. From 20.50, the protesters – some 450 people, according to police sources, reports Efe – began to arrive between the sounds of saucepans and cries for “freedom” and “criminal government.” The Madrid Municipal Police had to cut off that part of Ferraz Street. Also several milk companies of the National Police reinforced security and avoided the large accumulation of people.

The collective protest, as defined by the neighbors, has been replicated in other areas of Madrid such as the Mirasierra, Montecarlo or Aravaca neighborhoods. None of these minority concentrations had authorization from the Government Delegation. They have also spread to other cities and towns in the Community of Madrid, such as Pozuelo de Alarcón, Majadahonda or Galapagar.

These minority protests began last Sunday after a group of young people gathered in front of a house that had music playing at full volume on Calle de Núñez de Balboa. The incident resulted in 12 people being identified and punished for failing to comply with the royal decree of a state of alarm. Throughout the week, hundreds of people have gathered in these streets, between Ramón de la Cruz and Ayala, located in the Salamanca neighborhood, to protest against the government’s management. The protests generated crowds of people, which forced the Madrid Government Delegation to implement a strong police device to prevent the accumulation of protesters.

Along with the protest, hundreds of people have come out this Sunday at 9:00 p.m. to balconies and windows in different cities of Spain and various neighborhoods of Madrid, such as Ciudad Lineal, to also carry out casseroles against the Sánchez Executive.
