Seven illegal B&Bs discovered in Venice, fines of 42 thousand euros

(ANSA) – VENICE, APRIL 06 – Seven illegal bed and breakfasts were discovered over the Easter weekend by the Guardia di Finanza and the Local Police of Venice, as part of checks on non-hotel accommodation facilities, on the mainland and in the historic lagoon centre. Dozens of checks were carried out, also making use of the “Dogale” software to select the targets at greatest risk. The irregularities ranged from failure to comply with regional regulations, to the tourist tax and, from a fiscal point of view, the failure to declare income deriving from tourist rentals, with the reporting of administrative sanctions of 42,000 euros. Tax investigations have also been initiated for some of the owners of properties used for tourist rentals. Furthermore, 16 other accommodation facilities were fined for failure to display labels indicating “tourist rental”, the class assigned, the facility’s identification code and the prices charged. The Fiamme Gialle have identified two irregular workers in an accommodation facility in Venice and in a fish shop in Chioggia. Finally, in Caorle, four Italian workers completely “under the table” were found in a hotel. (HANDLE).
