As of this Wednesday, March 15, Sernac Ñuble has new offices, located at Calle Isabel Riquelme No. 413, in Chillán, with everything ready to receive those who require attention from this important service of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism.
The Presidential Delegate of the Ñuble Region, Gabriel Pradenas; the Seremi de Economía, Erick Solo de Zaldívar and the Regional Director (s) of Sernac, Manuel Muñoz, who also gave the go to the first Consultative Council of Civil Society in our region.
The Presidential Delegate, Gabriel Pradenas, mentioned that “it was a long-awaited change and also a very necessary one for the Ñuble region. Indeed, at Isabel Riquelme 413, on the second floor, people can come to ask all their questions, raise complaints to some specific denunciations and mention the fact that we, in terms of being able to reduce this information gap and contribute to the protection of citizens vis-à-vis the different bidders and that their rights as consumers are respected, we are promoting this same line and also thinking that this helps to minimize information asymmetry and, of course, this is very important to provide certainty to the community ”.
For his part, the head of the regional Ministry of Economy, Erick Solo de Zaldívar, along with recalling that this is a day to raise awareness among the population about the rights and needs of consumers, also assured that “through Sernac, we work every day every day so that the rights of consumers are not violated. Its functions are to educate, inform, supervise and protect consumers”.
In turn, he highlighted aspects of the Pro-Consumer law that establishes measures to strengthen the protection of rights. Within this are, for example, the legal guarantee of six months, the 10 days to regret an online purchase, among others. “Standards like these come to promote the rights of all consumers, whom we invite to learn about them and enforce them hand in hand with institutions such as Sernac,” he said.
First Advisory Council
Along with the inauguration, and within the framework of international consumer day, the first Consultative Council of Civil Society was also held.
In this regard, the Regional Director (s) of Sernac, Manuel Muñoz, referred to who pointed out that within the activities of the day “we held the Advisory Council with civil organizations, with organizations for the protection of consumer rights and also neighborhood associations . We hope that these instances will become fruitful work groups where they can convey to us the needs of the population in terms of their consumption problems”.
It should be noted that International Consumer Day is a commemoration that originated in a speech delivered in 1962 by US President John F. Kennedy before the Congress of his country, where he coined the phrase “we are all consumers”, highlighting for first time that citizens have the right to security, information, free choice and to be heard by companies.
