He has starred in around 100 hugely successful films. Such an epilogue just didn’t deserve it: the dramatic impact

Character appeared in almost a hundred Italian films, directed in four films by Tinto Brass, capable of ranging from comedy to spaghetti-westerns, often interpreting disturbing and ‘bad’ characters. Today he is leaving us. And it is really sad for us to have to break this news.

He died at the age of 81 in La Quinta in California, was the victim of a traffic accident between two cars on Sunday 31 July but his identification took place only on Tuesday 2 August. after the investigation conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff.

Such an epilogue just did not deserve it. He lived in La Quinta and passed away at Palm Springs’ Desert Regional Medical Center on Sunday evening, the sheriff’s office reported. His career peaked in the early 1970s when he started acting in Italy. You starred in some of the most talked about and controversial films of that period.

Born on 7 January 1941 in Chester (UK), he began working in film after school with small parts in British productions, including Peter Brook’s “Marat / Sade” (1967) as Monsieur Dupere.

The grave mourning

So John Steiner is gone. Iconic actor we remember in the role of the cunning and manipulative real estate magnate Beauty Smith in Lucio Fulci’s “White Fang” (1973), a role he reprized in the sequel “The Return of White Fang” (1974). Steiner worked again for Fulci playing the funny vampire Conte Dragalescu in the film “Il cav. Constant demonic Nicosia, or: Dracula in Brianza ”(1975), in which he was both terrifying and hilarious as Count Dracula’s homosexual vampire.

He also played a Nazi officer in Rino Di Silvestro’s “Deported women of the SS special section” (1976). Steiner had a similar role in Tinto Brass’ “Salon Kitty” (1976); the director also gave him a role in “Caligula” (1979) playing the bald and hideous-looking treasurer Longinus of the insane Roman emperor Caligula (played by Malcolm McDowell).

In addition to Tinto Brass and Lucio Fulci, Steiner has been able to work with many other directors of enormous level. Dario Argento hired him to play the eccentric film journalist Christiano Berti in “Tenebre” (1982). In the early 1990s, Steiner moved to Los Angeles, with his wife and teenage son, where he became a successful real estate agent working in Beverly Hills.
