Russian artist Sergey Lazarev published a post on February 24 with the words “No to war”, but later deleted it.
Now he has denied his words in support of Ukraine and said that he is proud to be a Russian. This happened after producer Leonid Dzyunik accused Lazarev of emigrating from Russia and that the musician was allegedly ashamed of his nation.
“I am Russian! And I have never been ashamed of it! I sincerely love Russia! She raised me as a strong personality and a famous artist who twice represented my country at the Eurovision Song Contest, defended her honor in the music arena and proudly carried the Russian flag,” Lazarev said.
He added that he has been working in Russia in the musical field for 25 years and does everything for the good of the country.
“Please don’t fall for fakes and provocations,” the musician added.
