Serbia announced the squad that will be brought to World Cup 2022. Of the 26 names that were called, 11 of them played Liga Italy.
Group A winners in UEFA zone qualifiers, Dragan Stojkovic’s side are determined to improve their record four years ago when they stopped in the group stage. Therefore, the selected team was not kidding.
Names like Dusan Vlahovic, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Luka Jovic will be the pillars on the front line. Dusan Tadic is believed to be the oldest player and has the most appearances (90 times) in the squad.
A rather interesting thing is the number of Serie A players who occupy the Serbian national team. It is not a foreign thing, because the two countries are relatively close and even Italy is still one of the top destinations for footballers.
There are at least 11 players playing in the land of pizza. In addition to Vlahovic and Jovic, there are Nikola Milenkovic, Sasa Lukic, Filip Kostic, Ivan Ilic, Darko Lazovic, Filip Duricic, Nemanja Radonji and the Milinkovic-Savic brothers.
Serbia joins Brazil, Switzerland and Cameroon in Group G. They will meet Team Samba in the opening match on November 24th.
