In a row celestial phenomenon will happen in September starting from supermoon to the equinox. Check the series of phenomena.

The night sky and on clear nights offer a fascinating array of sights to behold, from constellations to planets, the moon, and the occasional special event such as a meteor shower.

Observing the night sky for this phenomenon does not need special equipment such as a telescope or binoculars because some of it occurs so brightly.

The following are a series of celestial phenomena that can be seen this month, summarized from various sources:

The conjunction of the planets and the Moon

The conjunction phenomenon is an apparent close encounter or encounter between two objects in the sky from the point of view of an observer on Earth.

In this month, at least five times the collision between the planets and the Moon, in several phases, took place.

The following is the schedule for the conjunction of the planets and the Moon in September, quoted from the Instagram account of the Aviation and Space Research Organization of the National Research and Innovation Agency (ORPA BRIN):

1. Jupiter-Moon Conjunction: September 4 starting at 22.15 WIB, can be seen to the east. Last sighting on 5 September 05.45 WIB (northwest).

2. Venus-Moon Conjunction: September 12 at 04.00 WIB (east-northeast direction). Last seen on September 12 at 05.45 WIB in the same direction.

3. Mercury-Moon Conjunction: September 14, 05.30 to 05.45 WIB (eastern sky).

4. Mars-Moon Conjunction: September 16-17 from 18.15 WIB to 19.15 WIB (west).

5. Saturn-Moon Conjunction: September 26 at 18.15 WIB (east) to September 27 04.00 WIB (west).

Moon Phases

On Friday (15/9), the Moon will officially reach the new moon phase.

Quoted from Space, at that time, our natural satellite will be in the constellation Leo, two degrees north of the sun. When it’s new, the moon moves between Earth and the sun.

Because sunlight can only illuminate the far side of the moon, and the moon is in the same region of the sky as the sun, the moon will be completely hidden from view from anywhere on Earth for about a day.

After the new moon phase, the light of Earth’s night sky will again shine as a young crescent moon in the western night sky.

Here’s a complete list of moon phases in September:

– Final Perbani 7 September 05.21 WIB
– New moon September 15 08.40 WIB
– Early banking September 23, 02.32 WIB
– Full moon September 29, 16.57 WIB

Equinox

According to BRIN, an equinox is a phenomenon when the sun crosses the equator or the equator. In effect, the duration of day and night in the southern and northern hemispheres is balanced.

In Indonesia, referring to the zero point of the equator in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, the sun is at this zero point twice a year, namely March 20-21 and September 23.

For this month, BRIN said the equinox occurred on September 23 at 08.30 WIB/09.30 WITA/10.30 WIT.

When this phenomenon occurs, the Sun-Earth distance reaches 150,147,520 km.

Supermoon

The late September full moon is classed as a supermoon, or full harvest supermoon. In Indonesia, this phenomenon began to appear on September 29 at 16.57 WIB

Quoted from Treehuggerthe name was given because this full moon phase will be the closest to the autumnal equinox in 2023.

This phenomenon traditionally allowed farmers to work into the night under the bright moonlight – hence the name.

This full moon will also be the last of the 2023 supermoon series. Previously, the blue supermoon, aka the super blue moon, occurred at the end of August.
