KOMPAS.com – Team leader Petronas Yamaha SRT, Razlan Razali, gave a leak when Valentino Rossi (Monster Energy Yamaha) will be introduced as the brand-new driver.

Razlan Razali mentioned Rossi will likely be introduced at the Misano Circuit, Italy, in September 2020.

See the schedule MotoGP 2020, the Misano Circuit will indeed host the sixth series (GP San Marino) and seventh (GP Emilia Romagna).

The San Marino GP will be scheduled for September 13, followed by the Emilia Romagna GP one week ago.

According to Razlan Razali, the Misano Circuit is the right choice to announce cooperation because it is not far from the hometown of Valentino Rossi, Urbino.

However, Razlan Razali could not confirm that possibility because there were still a few small details that had not yet been resolved.

“Hopefully we can finish it soon. However, introducing Rossi in his own home would certainly be better,” Razlan Razali was quoted as saying on the website Motorsport Italy, Wednesday (7/28/2020).

“There are still some details that need to be resolved. However, those details are not related to Valentino Rossi or motor mechanics,” said Razlan Razali.

“We are currently working to align Yamaha, VR46 (Rossi), and also Sepang (a circuit in Malaysia affiliated with Petronas Yamaha SRT). That takes time, “said Razlan Razali.

Previously, Rossi and Petronas Yamaha SRT had often made open statements indicating the two would work together next season.

Rossi has even stated that the percentage of himself being the brand-new Petronas Yamaha SRT rider has reached 99 percent.

According to Rossi, the contract signing process must still be postponed because there is one problem that also involves Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT).

Fabio Quartararo is a rider who has certainly replaced Rossi’s position at Monster Energy Yamaha next season.

The problem referred to by Rossi is that Quartararo has not yet determined who will be taken from the Yamaha SRT Petronas to the Monster Energy Yamaha.

That makes Rossi have to wait to sign a contract at the Yamaha SRT Petronas.

Successfully bringing in a Rossi caliber racer would be good news for the Yamaha SRT Petronas, who just debuted in MotoGP last season.

Rossi’s popularity will certainly also boost the reputation of the Petronas Yamaha SRT.

In response, Razlan Razali ensured Petronas Yamaha SRT recruited Rossi not because he wanted instant popularity.

“We want anyone at Petronas Yamaha SRT to work to catch up. We are very happy to see the development of the team from last season to be at this point with Quartararo,” said Razlan.

“We want to continue that philosophy by helping Rossi. We don’t want to be popular because of Rossi’s presence here,” Razlan said.

“We want to help Rossi remain competitive even at his age. After talking with Rossi and his staff, we understand what he needs to achieve,” said Razlan added.

Regarding the duration of the contract, Rossi is believed to be bound for the 2021 season with an option to extend one year.

If officially joined, Rossi will replace Fabio Quartararo who has been confirmed to move to Monster Energy Yamaha next season.

Furthermore, Rossi will again prepare to face the third series MotoGP 2020, Czech Grand Prix, at the Brno Circuit, Sunday (09/08/2020).
