The Castro authorities reduced the sentences established for two of those involved in the case of Santiago Diosdado Morgado Morgado, a teacher who was murdered in 2022 in the province of Santi Spíritus.
The outrageous incident was denounced on social networks by activist Néstor Estévez, who denounced the murder almost two years ago, and who believes that the Cuban courts are not taking the case with the necessary seriousness.

In the extensive publication, the Internet user assures that the municipal court of the city of Yayabo called for a new trial, something that was done almost “in secret.” The process, carried out weeks ago, was carried out “without any notification to the family of the deceased”, and resulted in the reduction of the sentences of two of those involved in the crime.
Estévez criticized the official press, because, in his opinion, it avoided touching on the subject of the murder until it was time to “dress the police as heroes.”
“In addition to the usual audacity of the official press, which first remained silent, then distorted history and dressed up the louts of the PNR as heroes, who did absolutely nothing, and later boasted of talking about justice, which today with the new events deflate like a birthday balloon.”
Now, the state media are silent again after the court made this decision, and the user doubts that this will be shared with the people.
“I would love to see what they are going to say now, if they break their paralysis and usual incompetence. It is embarrassing to know that the case is still alive, and that Santiago is dead,” the publication adds.
The activist questioned the reasons why this trial was carried out practically in secret and the sentences established for the criminals prosecuted were reduced, recognizing that they were questions that the regime was never going to answer.
“Until this moment, the only thing that the relatives, neighbors and friends consulted are clear about is that Santiago is dead, and that his killers are benefiting from reduced sentences less than two years after the events, and after a final and final ruling. an appeal that ratified the initial sentence.”
Finally, Estévez stated that he considered that on the Island there was no law that protected ordinary Cubans, since the actions of the authorities had made it clear that criminals benefited over the people.

The professor’s case was reported in mid-2022, when his family reported that he had disappeared after going out on a motorcycle to carry out transportation work. Days later, Morgado’s body was found inside a well, tied up and with signs of violence..
